Something Old, Something New

Love the quote- "She walks in beauty"... Lord Byron
"She walks in Beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!"
Clicking aimlessly through some old saved pictures, I found this one from my friend Nathan Wright, in New Zealand. You can see a ton more of his work (photography) here: http://www6.flickr.com/photos/iwasfixin2/
I adore Vintage. Rough, humble, old, (like I'm feeling right now) and softly faded... great looks for artwork too. Checking out some tutes on this particular "medium" helped me come up with this yesterday... enjoy.

Go out somewhere today, and Walk in Beauty.

Just spent 6 months working in a ... Law Firm. Incessant drama- are the two words that I can use to best describe that place- and I was desperately needing to come back home to help with some medical issues for my husband. I am blessed to again be writing and making art (now in between doctor appointments and tests)- will let everyone know how that unfolds.
This blog is going to change very shortly- and I can't wait to see where it goes. I promise more of me- and us, and less sales BS- if any. :) Whatever is going on- that will be the story- with an artistic twist.

I believe my creativity is shaped by the immediate environment, not just by what I can see, but by what I feel... good and bad. I want to create every single emotion that I can possibly get into a piece of art.
Drama? Always a spike... but now I am (for the first time) about to run (yes, I actually said RUN- ha) with the wind- and can't wait to see where it takes me. Photography has been a base of a lot of my work, and I'm looking for a couple of classes to help me see better...
One of the greates gifts I have received lately- the ability to multi task and accomplish much more- so I look forward to sharing with you much in the next few months-
Look around you- there is a miracle nearby.

When Life Hands You Lemons- Make Meringue!
Posted by admin on August 10, 2010
Lately- everything has been a downpour of lemons. I've made lemonade, chipped lemons into the pond with a 5 iron, candied lemon peel (thinking that adding sugar might help... it didn't.), and now I am going in a slightly different direction. Meringue.

This little venture started as an online Gallery, and now is becoming a full-blown store. We are furiously working on a shopping cart, which will be sometime in the late Summer of 2010, but until then-
If you wish to purchase a print or canvas, please contact us through the online form (Under the Contact Tab), or email directly to Shelly@ShellyPeacock.me.
Now through July 31st, all works are available in a gorgeous 11x14 matte print form for only $39 while supplies last.

Every single hour of every single day- I ask myself- am I where I'm supposed to be? Am I doing what I am meant to do? The answer- more than not- is yes... but self doubts can definitely kick us in the butt when we leave a door cracked... or even when the deadbolt is there and locked.
So very many never question, never explore, and never achieve, stumbling down a seemingly pre-ordained path- that I find myself questioning ever more deeply- the norm? The usual, the suspect... and it all boils down to the nerve.
Where are you right now? Are you moving to where you want to be? Are you there already? Do you even know where to start?
As I asked myself these relentless questions again even last night, this unassuming little blogpost crossed my path- as always- for a reason.

Rainy Days and Tuesdays

When I embarked on this "little" art project, I had absolutely no idea that it would explode into something so huge- and real. Working as a full time artist has always been my dream, but to actually get to paint as much as I want, it is the BOMB!
